Recipe for Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Pizza Base
The best part about this recipe is that it only needs Sweet Potato (cooked and mashed), black or white chia seeds, 2 tablespoons of cold water, gluten-free plain flour, almond meal and some olive oil (if you like your pizzas a little crispy.)
That's all!.... shocking, isn't it?
How to make the Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Pizza Base
- Pre-heat the oven to hot 200ºC or 400ºF
- Defrost the frozen mashed sweet potato or simply peel, chop and cook a large (750g) sweet potato and then mash.
- In a bowl add in the black chia seeds and 2 tablespoons of water and let it sit for 5 mins or until it has thickened.
- In a large bowl add in the sweet potato, thickened chia seeds, 1 cup of gluten-free flour, almond meal and combine together until it forms a soft dough.
- Using clean hands bring the dough together to form a ball of dough.
- Press the dough into a pizza tin or lay the ball of dough onto baking paper and roll out with a rolling pin.... is it weird that I enjoy this part? 😉
- Then lay onto a baking tray or cut small circles with a scone cutter to make mini pizzas!
- You can also use white chia seeds in the sweet potato dough and simply use a glass to cut the rounds for the mini pizzas.
- Brush with a little olive oil and bake in the oven until the pizza base starts to go a little crispy....about 15-20mins.
- Then take out of the oven and add your favourite toppings and put back in the oven until the toppings are just how you like them!!

This pizza dough is Unreal!! It has become my go to for the past couple of years, primarily for the benefit of sneaking veg into my littles diet any chance we can. He's such a great eater anyway but also loves pizza night with this dough! Thanks 🙂
